Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 is also known by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female to be signed by J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The first album she released on the label on October 21st of 2016 with the title Pho. It was then that she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox posted her debut music online in 2012. She dropped the single Five Finger Discount in 2013 and Ariography EP in 2013. Her uploads continued music on the internet in 2014 and released her own single Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as from Sweat It Out, on July 21, 2015. In the following year, her music was circulating around the Dreamville team because J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some of the references for Rihanna. In December, it was revealed 8th, that she'd joined Dreamville Records. The singer appeared on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II which featured the track Backseat alongside Cozz. In the month of October, she released her first EP Pho. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change song. She also performed at the opening of The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. The following year, she went on to perform as a guest artist on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang with Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. The debut album of Ari Lennox Shea Butter Baby was released on the 16th July of this year. The debut single, called Whipped Cream From the album dropped on September 5, 2018 with an accompanying music video. On November 9 she released two additional singles called 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. In November 13, she came out with two additional singles, One and Pedigree. One or Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released on her debut single, February 26, 2019 for her album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured along with Cole for the Creed II sound track on the 16th of November. A music video was released on 20 February 2019 in conjunction with the song. Within a matter of a week it was watched by more than 3,000,000 people. In December 2018 she was part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
